Policy Actions
- Introduce a 100% safety culture system into organisations responsible for looking after young vulnerable people.
- Strengthen safety, accountability and reporting systems within agencies such as Oranga Tamariki and other child-focused services.
- Increase funding to trusted organisations that support young people, including groups such as the Salvation Army, City Missions and other community providers.
- Ensure vulnerable young people receive practical support, including safe housing, counselling, education pathways, mentoring and family support where appropriate.
- Improve cooperation between government agencies, schools, health services, police, charities and local community organisations.
- Make sure funding is directed toward frontline services that deliver measurable support and real protection.
