Education & Student Policy
Strengthening schools, supporting students, improving teacher conditions, and creating better opportunities for every learner in New Zealand.
Quality Education for Every Student
PPNZ believes education must give every child and student the foundation to succeed. We support stronger core learning, better attendance, fairer access to higher education, and practical support for teachers and families.
Reading, Writing & Mathematics
Enhance the teaching of reading, writing and mathematics so students build strong basic skills.
Proficiency Checks
Introduce check systems to measure student proficiency in reading, writing and mathematics at different levels.
Improve Attendance
Deal with truancy by aiming for 90% school attendance within three years and addressing real causes of absence.
Support Poverty Cases
Allow for and address poverty-related cases so financial hardship does not block students from learning.
Higher Education Funding
Increase funding for education and improve support for college and university students.
Student Electricity Coupons
Issue non-transferable electricity coupons that can be used to credit a student’s electricity account.
